If you ask me, any book that has not one but two colons in its title is off to a bad start. Fortunately, it’s what’s inside that counts and this particular text more than makes up for any shortcomings in that department.
This book is essentially a guide to investing in gold and silver (as the overlong title would suggest), written in such a manner that anyone can understand it without needing a degree in economics. Of course the book makes a very strong case for investing in gold and lays out a few arguments so deftly, that they are incredibly hard to deny.
One of the main premises can be summed up neatly by this quote from the book:
“Throughout the ages, many things have been used as currency: livestock, grains, spices, shells, beads, and now paper. But only two things have ever been money: gold and silver. When paper money becomes too abundant, and thus loses its value, man always turns back to precious metals.”
This quote neatly explains why investing in gold is such a good choice but the book goes much further than that in highlighting the benefits of gold.
For starters, it explains how historical economic cycles show that investing in gold and silver is the only way to really keep your assets safe. It also explains how, right now, the US government is driving inflation and diluting money to weaken the dollar. It also explains why precious metals can be highly profitable while still being the safest investments you can make.
But then it gets into the real meat of the book: explaining how to actually start investing in gold and showing you how to do it while making the most of your cash. This includes advice on how to ‘avoid the middle man’ and how to take real control over your purchase so that you really do have physical ownership of your gold investment.
Author Mike Maloney is a previous metals investment advisor to Robert Kiyosaki – who readers may recognize as the author of Rich Dad, Poor Dad. This book went on to become the best selling financial book in history. Since then, Mike has specialized in educating the masses about money, economics and history. He is the owner and founder of GoldSilver.com, an online gold dealership, and in short he knows everything there is to know about investing in gold.
Reviews of this book are highly positive and sing a lot of praises for Maloney’s writing style and knowledge. Reviews tend to focus on the sheer amount of information in the book and state that it covers a lot more than most other books on the same subject matter.
As Maloney himself puts it, investing in gold right now may well turn out to be the best financial opportunity in history. This book shows you how.
